Privacy

SmartNFC is a digital visiting card. Tapping a card opens the cardholder's profile. This page explains what happens to information when you do.

Looking at someone's card

You do not need an account, and you are not asked for anything. We record that a card was viewed so the cardholder can see how often their card is used.

That record contains the card, the time, the broad type of device, and a one-way hash of your IP address that changes every day. The hash cannot be turned back into your IP address, and because the key rotates daily it cannot be used to follow you from one day to the next. We keep it only so that ten taps from one person are not counted as ten different people.

Because of this, visitor counts are shown as estimated unique visitors. They are an estimate. They are not a count of people, and they do not identify anyone.

Sharing your details with a cardholder

If you fill in the "exchange contact" form, the details you type are sent to that cardholder and the company or SmartNFC administrators authorized to manage the profile. They are not shared with unrelated cardholders, and they are not used to market anything to you.

The cardholder can permanently delete your details from their inbox. If you want them removed, ask the person whose card you tapped — they control that record, and they can erase it.

Asking about buying a card

The enquiry form on our "get your own card" page sends your details to SmartNFC so we can reply. If someone's card referred you, we record which card it was, so we know where the enquiry came from. The cardholder who referred you is not told who you are.

What we do not do

If you are a cardholder

Sign in to the portal to edit your profile or download its stored fields, content metadata, contacts and daily analytics totals, and to delete any of those contacts permanently.

How long things are kept

Detailed view records are kept for a limited period and then deleted; only the daily totals remain. Contacts shared with a cardholder are kept until that cardholder deletes them.

Contact

To ask about anything on this page, or about information a specific cardholder holds, contact the cardholder directly. For anything about SmartNFC itself, use the enquiry form on our card page.
